Rise and Shine – aweusmeuh

Why did you pick this picture?

It is an acknowledgement of my multiples inspirations, and of my will to transcend them. This is also my work with the bigger reach as some people liked it enough to get it tattooed

Where did the idea for this art come from?

This work came from my study of tattoo styles. My work is influenced by different tattoo stylesretro, dotwork and geometric. For this one, I tried to mix this geometric tattoo style with video games (the subject is a video game character), and 3D work which are both a big part of my life.

What does this art mean to you?

This artwork is the symbol of my one drawing a day for one year challenge (#StriveFor365) that I completed last year. It shows off my creativity and my willpower.

What can you tell us about yourself?

I am a 3D visual effects engineer from France. I am also an self-taught artist. I live for images and creation.

What more can you tell us about your art?

I am deeply inspired by the graffiti and street art culture. I love exploring multiples styles and techniques. During my #StriveFor365 challenge, I learnt to work with dotwork and watercolor, among others, for the first time. I try to find inspiration in my whole environment. At work first, with images and effects that my studio produces, but also and especially in urban artists, on Paris streets or galleries. My graffiti culture leads me to study letters, either in graffiti, or in typography or in calligraphy. I am currently back to spray painting, which was my first contact with making art 10 years ago. I love the versatility of a spray bomb. I am now focused on stencil art. Beyond graffiti, my work also explores the woman body and hair dynamics as well as more symbolic art with vanitas and abstract art.
