Diamond lake – Rob.C.Art

Why did you pick this picture?

I picked this picture because I feel like it sums up my style well. I like shapes that contrast so the spherical moon inside a diamond is pleasing. I’m also super into smaller very detailed work and lots of dotwork which are both included in this piece

Where did the idea come from?

The idea came from wanting to combine the two styles that I usually go for which are mandalas and dotwork landscapes. I wanted to find a way of showing them together without just placing the landscape at the centre of the mandala because I feel like a lot of people do that

What does this art mean to you?

The art that I make never really carries a specific meaning or message for me personally. I just like to make things that people are gonna enjoy looking at! I got a lot of feedback saying that people found it really peaceful and relaxing to look at so I feel like I did what I set out to do with that piece.

What can you tell us about yourself?

I’m a university graduate with a degree in Spanish and Italian. I really enjoyed my course but left feeling like it wasn’t something I wanted to use for my career. So I spent a couple of years doing various jobs and travelling and found that something that I always came back to was art. It’s something that I’ve always done to relax or cheer myself up so I thought why not try build a career out of it!

What more can you tell us about your art?

One thing about my art is that it’s always hand drawn. I may scan them into my laptop and adjust the colours to sell them on as prints but I really like the fact that every piece contains little imperfections. I think people appreciate hand made products more and more nowadays. There’s a tonne of apps out there for drawing mandalas that’ll make them all 100% neat and symetrical for you but for me it’s important that you can see the human element in someone’s work!
