Handmade Night – isaartahir

Why did you pick this picture?

I chose this picture because it’s one of the very first hand paintings I had done. I had spent a few hours at night inspecting and perfecting each detail of the painting. This specific piece is one that I feel most connected with because I began to become more serious about this technique of painting.

Where did the idea come from?

Well if you don’t already know, the painting is that of Vincent Van Gogh’s, “The Starry Night”. I’ve been a fan of Van Gogh’s work since a young age. “The Starry Night” is actually one of my favorite paintings of all time. Recreating this piece gave me great joy.

What does this art mean to you?

In retrospect to creating art on my hands, I saw many body paintings on The Internet over time and had thought why not do something similar yet different and unique, creating artwork on my hands with my own hands. It’s very fun, people do ask “wouldn’t you want to save your artwork?” But I am through the photos I take.

Painting on the skin for me is just a whole new experience than painting on your everyday piece of paper. Being able to do anything and know it won’t stay permanently once it touches the surface allows me to explore and experiment with new colors and techniques.

What can you tell us about yourself?

I am a 18 year old artist from Brooklyn, New York. I love trying new foods, exploring new places, but most of all creating artwork in my free time.

What more can you tell me about your art?

I recently began to create Hand art and have received a great amount of support. I wish to be able to one day create artwork for other people and companies. I am currently exploring on how I can expand on this idea, for example stop motion animation.
