Why did you pick this picture?
I chose this pineapple drawing as it is a reflection on just how far I have come with my art. I am really proud of how much my technique and skill has grown and this drawing is exactly what I dreamed I could be able to do – to be able to draw realistically with coloured pencil.
Where did the idea for this art come from?
I have always been inspired by artists who were able to draw realistically and hyperrealistically Since I love pineapples so much, I decided to have a go at drawing one, a fun and challenging fruit to draw!
What does this art mean to you?
I have always had a passion for art. In fact, I found a drawing from kindergarten that said ‘when I grow up I want to be an artist’ over the years, my technique and skill has really grown and changed. Art brings me joy and I hope that I can bring joy to others through my art.
What can you tell us about yourself?
I have always had a passion for creative things, especially drawing. I have recently graduated from my bachelor of design where I hope to be able to use my drawing skills as a part of my career. I illustrated my first published book when I was 14 years old and I hope that one day I can be a full time professional illustrator. Art is my passion and I have this quote as my inspiration: ‘do what you love, love what you do’
What more can you tell us about your art?
I love to use a variety of mediums including watercolour, acrylic and graphite pencil but my favourite is coloured pencil. (The kind of art where you don’t have to clean up is my favourite!) I love creating colourful art that makes the world a little brighter.
