Why did you choose this artwork?
I chose this artwork because it is one of my most recently completed large scale pieces, and it incorporates themes that flow through other pieces in my portfolio as well. My hope is that these themes resonate with the viewers and make them feel something. This piece is also the first all acrylic painting I have done as a professional artist.
Where did the inspiration for this artwork come from?
Natures cycles and beauty, femininity and spirituality, the connection between the universe, earth, body and spirit. These subjects are powerful and inspire me to create. The idea that in this existence all these things are connected, a mirror of each other, is what I find fascinating. There are so many rhythms within us and within nature, it really makes me think of the bigger picture and the possibilities.
What does this art mean to you?
This piece means a lot to me as it was the centerpiece of my first solo show in my new home, Philadelphia. This is also my largest completed piece for sale at this time. This piece somewhat symbolizes new beginnings and opportunities for me, as I have recently started working full time as an artist.
What can you tell us about yourself?
The one constant I have always known is that I am an artist. I spend most of my time working on my fine artwork, handcrafted jewelry and adornments, and trying to have new experiences to inspire me. I travel and explore as often as possible, I am always interested in learning and expanding my knowledge. I am a free spirited and open minded person. I am a Michigan native who moved to Philadelphia just over a year ago with my partner Chuck, after earning my BFA from Western Michigan University in spring 2015.

rhythmic bodies 💠 I titled this piece in honor of the universal symbolism of rhythm & cycle that the moon & female body represent. the phases of the moon symbolize immortality & eternity, enlightenment or the dark side of nature herself. connection & symbolic representation are all around us, we just have to open our eyes to it. in my work I try to find & visually present these connections, between the physical & metaphysical. ☄ hey philly, go see my work up this month at @frontstreetcafe on the second floor! originals & digital artist prints available for purchase just message, email or text me with inquiries!
