Scarlet Macaw – artsemeowcrafts

Why did you pick this picture?

I just love the colours, how they’re so vibrant 🙂

Where did the idea for this art come from?

This was a piece I made for one of my close friend’s birthday. She loves birds, especially colourful ones, so I though why not make her a scarlet macaw? And so I made it out of clay, painted it with acrylic paints, and then glazed it.

What does this art mean to you?

Art is the way I express myself. It helps me relax and put all my ideas into something. Usually clay, but sometimes I draw or paint when I don’t have access to clay. This one though, means a bit more to me because I made it for a close friend.

What can you tell us about yourself?

I am currently 15 years old and absolutely love to craft. I just started to get back into clay around a year ago, before that, I only did clay as a little kid, around 8 years old. I absolutely love this medium because it’s so forgiving. If you make a mistake, it’s pretty easy to cover it up or start again. I also love to make cute little items that I can give as gifts. I love watching their facial expressions when I tell them that I made it.

What more can you tell us about your art?

I actually originally started doing clay again to raise money for my guinea pigs @willow_coconut but then I didn’t really need to anymore so I just started crafting for fun. I run the account @artsymeowcrafts but sometimes I post pictures of what my sister makes. However I mainly post my own creations.
