Devon – Curator_of_Emotions

Why did you pick this picture?
This painting is the sum of the last five months that I’ve been painting. I’m really new to all of this. So I am still finding my way so to speak. I feel this painting represents a path or movement in me.
Where did the idea for this art come from?
Recently my apartment complex threw me an art show. I laid out a silhouette with airbrush tape and got the crowd to throw paint at it. I then turned it into this piece. Flesh tones are very new to me, about two weeks now. So the urge to accomplish this, along with my recent movement in expressionist dots and nudes has taken me here. I am all about the blending of styles and creating something new.
What does this art mean to you?
Passion sexuality desire. It represents what I want, am feeling, or in need of. I called it “Devon” because my apartment complex is called the Devon425. Since it was created in the Art Show I figured naming it was the least I can do.
What can you tell us about yourself?
My name is Scott Mele, I live in downtown Raleigh, NC. I have two beautiful children who help inspire and motivate me to see things in different ways. I have no art background except art classes In HS. I haven’t touched art in 20 years. During that time, I’ve been in Sales. Since I started painting, I work all day and paint all night. Sometimes I only get 3-4 hours of sleep. Other than that I love modern design, food, fashion, and people in general.
What more can you tell us about your art?
My art is something I am developing. If you get a chance to look at one of my pieces you will see in the background, there is another abstract painting hidden underneath. I do this for the textures. I feel no one is really doing this and it adds a layer of hidden movement. Some of the pieces are subtle others are very busy. Some add a sense of realism to the touch. Like in this painting the bathing suit has a fabric like feel to it. My art is always evolving as I see or learn new things. The more I achieve the more I will start to merge different styles and try to create a new experience.
