Why did you pick this picture?
I picked this painting as it was created at a pivotal moment in my artistic career.
Where did the idea come from?
For the past 12 years I had been working under the pseudonym “Klingatron” and at the beginning of 2016 I decided to retire that alter-ego to continue my career using my real name.
What does this art mean to you?
It is a way for me to express myself and articulate a personal darkness without giving too much away, allowing the viewer to raise more questions about the subject being portrayed.
What can you tell us about yourself?
I’m a 32 year old full time artist living the dream in Glasgow, Scotland. I’m in my studio everyday and love being there. But given the opportunity I welcome the chance to shred on my snowboard, but most of the time I settle for walking my dog.
What more can you tell us about your art?
My art is my language and painting figurative works is what I am most interested in with a darker, atmospheric aesthetic which is influenced by some of my favourite artists. I enjoy mixing extreme details of a portrait with expressive abstract mark making. My work has changed considerably over the past few years and I’m always excited to see what might come out of my studio.
