Why did you pick this picture?

This piece embodies a glimpse of hope and love in a dark and cold world. It is part of my “911 Pandemic … Is it too late?’ collection that touches on the lack of humanity, love and compassion that we witness in society. In a fast paced world, I can’t help but notice society is lacking in these core values and while these drastic changes in society seem evolutionary from afar but deep down I believe they’re causing our souls to evaporate. Most of the pieces in this collection are dark and negative whereas this piece seizes your attention with its light and positive vibes. I want people to recognize the darkness and believe there is good in our world.

Where did the idea for this art come from?

I’ve received a lot of criticism for the lack of positivity in this collection, but sometimes people have to understand that seeing the darkness causes a greater sense of urgency than blindly glimpsing over another positive thought. As cynical as this sounds, it’s happening more in our world every day and it’s not slowing down. It’s not all bad, there is definitely some good in our world and this collection touches on that as well. The hope and brightness symbolizes the light at the end of the tunnel, the fight against the darkness is an uphill battle but if we stand together and be true to ourselves then we can make the world a better place.

What does this art mean to you?

Art has always been my medium to express how I feel and communicate what I want the world to hear. I haven’t always been great with my words or even opening up about my emotions, but there’s something about a blank canvas that takes down my guard and allows me to freely express myself. Some people wear their hearts on their sleeves, mine are painted on the canvases. In whirlwind of emotions, my art collection reflects how I feel about world events and the direction we’re walking down. If we can revolutionize science and technology at astonishing paces, then we can also carry our love and compassion for humanity.

What can you tell us about yourself?

Painting has always provided me with freedom ever since I started painting as a child. My art comes natural, I don’t have any formal training and I pride myself on my abstract visions. My emotions lead my brush strokes, I don’t over analyze or question what I’m painting and I end up with my emotions on the canvas.

I can’t imagine my life without art. It is what I love, breathe and dream about. It is a place where I can be myself, I don’t have to worry about being judged, criticized or being put down. It is my place of freedom; express how I feel to the world by using colors, lines and shapes.

What more can you tell us about your art?

I want my art to provoke some sort of an emotion from the viewer. It doesn’t matter if they feel happy, sad, angry, or hurt, I want people to feel inspired to do good after they see the 911 pandemic … Is it too late? collection. I want to bring positive change to the world. I want people to focus on the good that is to come while feeling the dark and coldness that a lot of people in the world are living every day. People will be sad at first glance but enlightened to make difference that will brighten up the future
