Heart of stone – Molly – caprigosisters

Why I picked this photo?
I spent countless hours working on this piece, little by little – drawing and coloring every crystal. I many times cursed myself for coming up with such a tedious idea. After a span of 6 months, I finally finished it and I can really say: hard work does pay off – it’s my prized possession.
Where did the idea come from?

The heart is widely considered our most important organ and was once thought to be the center of our soul and emotions.

In my piece, I show how a hardened heart can have a beautiful center. Those with guarded souls and emotions can show beauty to those who seek it.
What can you tell us about yourself?

My name is Molly Monroe. I am a 19 year old artist based in San Antonio. My best friend, Jessa, and I make up the Caprigo Sisters (@caprigosisters), a collective art group. Together we motivate and critique each other’s work and attend art venues together.
What more can you tell us about your art?

I am fascinated by nature and people, and love to experiment with many mediums. In my concepts, I find myself stuck between meticulous and free flowing – many of my pieces will have realistic elements or defined detail with the juxtaposition of abstract thought and surreal imagination
