Why did you pick this picture?
It captures my abilities as an artist to paint a portrait, while adding my own flair and style to a piece.
Where did the idea come from?
As many of the pieces I create are Fan art /Popular art based, I was asked by Andrew to turn him into his favorite version of the Joker, wearing a joker colored superman shirt.
Why does this mean so much to you?
This piece boosts my confidence in creating what people ask me too. It shows me that I can take someone else’s vision, and bring it into the light, maintaining what makes my style appealing.
What an you tell us about yourself?
I am in school to become a registered nurse, graduating in the fall. I have a 16 year old son that was born while I was in high school. I have been tattooing for 16 years. 95% of that art has been custom pieces. Though I have always dabbled with a variety of mediums, I didn’t really start painting until I seen opportunity in it, last year. This opened up my customer base to anyone, those who like tattoos, and those who just like my art! It has opened up doors for me, as I do art shows and conventions now. I am very passionate about my work, and always aim to please the customer.
What more can you tell us about your art?
My art falls into a category, I made up, that I call “graphic novel realism.” My style was developed by being a long time comic book fan. Copying the style of various comic artists as I grew up, all while being a fan of the classic artistic masters of the Renaissance. Where tons of artists stop their pieces and leave them with a comic or cartoony feel, I like to call that my halfway point, adding shading and rendering to boarder line a “real” feel.
